Usually I fly to Sabah for diving trip in Mabul Island, but this time we decided to explore the other part of Sabah - Kota Kinabalu for its beautiful sunset. This time we flew from KL to Sabah with Malaysia Airline and stay at
We took the morning flight at 9am and arrived around 12pm. The view when arriving was so rewarding. Just take a look from your window seat! Thanks to the hotel arrangement we manage to go for early check-in at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru and we had our room with sea view and located at Level 3. Have a look at our Tanjung Wing Seaview Room with both bath tub and shower room inside the spacious toilet. The bed was super comfy for a quick nap (super sleepy because we woke up for early flight) before we decided to go and walk around the resort.

Basically over our 3D2N stay at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa - "Tanjung Wing Seaview Room". It has all the amenities we need and we enjoy the bathtub, blackout curtain and comfortable bed for sleep. Mini fridge for us to keep our drinks cold and easy access through lift/stairs to their other facilities within the resort. It was a bit wasted as I didn't think of visit their gym as we just enjoy our time at the pool, sunset bar, sitting right under the coconut tree for some cool sea breeze and looking at all mini lizards coming out for sun tanning. Oh ya, there were many birds chirping in the morning too.
One of the main reason we like our room here in Shangri-La Tanjung Aru is because of the view! Just have a panoramic view of what we had from our room balcony. Wide view of the field with sea view and coconut trees where there's beach chair for you to hang out. If you didn't manage to RSVP a good seats at the sunset bar, hanging out here with your own chilled drink is a good decision too. You can also catch the sunset from the open space down there.

On the first night, we had a scrumptious Ramadhan Buffet at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort Cafe TATU. The available choice within the cafe is really wide that I gotta limit myself to pick just my favourites. They have the huge seafood platter with crab, lobster, prawn, mussel and clams. They even have teh-tarik corner and grilled lamb (must have) for the buffet spread too. I like the satay and Nasi Kerabu available at the outdoor area. It was pretty crowded that night and I guess people just love it, even the locals were seen berbuka puasa here ~

After a big meal, we decided to go to the city area and it was easy to find
Grab Car from the hotel. Average per trip around RM8-10. We went to a korean convenient store to buy Makgeoli and it was pretty cheap. RM16 for a 1 liter bottle. Go grab some drinks/ snacks from there in case you are hungry during late night. KK city is where you can buy souvenir of Malaysia local products too.

In case your beer or makgeolli is not cold enough, go help yourself by getting some ices from the ice machine within the resort itself. It's pretty convenient. Now let's fast forward to the next day where we went for an island tour to Mamutik Island (Pulau Mamutik) at Star Marina Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort
Due to large in flow of tourists visit, I believe higher maintenance is required as I saw rubbish (especially empty plastic bottles) floating and stranded at the beach. Stumble upon some worker who was cleaning up a part of the beach. We as tourist must be aware of what we brought to here and don't leave anything here but just foot prints on the beautiful island okay? Have a look at the photos taken during our island tour to Mamutik Island. I love the fishes who are not afraid of humans and my phone manage to capture their naughtiness.
I was using my GalaxyS10+ to capture those underwater photos. You can see the fishes feeling curious and even nimble my fingers. It was scary at first but you'll slowly get use to it.

Important tips when you travel to Mamutik Island (Pulau Mamutik):
If you are #ShangrilaTAH hotel guests, you can purchase the picnic lunch pack for dining on the island. We had our early lunch by the beach while other tourists dipping themselves inside the sea.
Therefore during their lunch time, the sea is actually empty and that's the best time for you to take photos together with love one. You will get a clean shot which looks like the beach only belongs to you *put on your sunglasses*

That moment when all the fishes come surround you thinking that you have food. You are advised not to feed the fish as it will affect the natural ecosystem of the fishes and sea. So just enjoy the view and their accompany if the fishes happen to swim around you.

Above are some of the fishes that came and say hi to us. Captured #withGalaxy #GalaxyS10. Do you know that your smartphone is good enough to have light dipping and take underwater photos? Just use the volume key as the shutter button when you put your phone underwater.
IMPORTANT TIPS: Rinse your phone thoroughly with the pipe water to wash away the tiny salt element that may cause residue at the charging port/other mini corner.

After back from the island, we then went to the swimming pool to enjoy the rest of the day. Basically all your outdoor activities are mainly covered within the resort itself. Hangout with your family and friends by having fun together. You can always take Grab out for dinner at night. Find a local seafood restaurant and you'll be satisfied. Remember to avoid touristy restaurant as it might get pretty expensive.

On the same day after our island tour to Mamutik Island, we went to their Sunset Bar to catch the beautiful sunset. You are advised to do reservation first to grab the best seat within the bar. Below are the price list for you if you decided to hangout at Sunset Bar. We had our Sun Lounger Seating (RM278/pax) and it has the best view among all other seat. I would recommend you to add RM58 for the 2 hours free flow of Pommery Champagne.

We went out for seafood dinner that night, it wasn't that great as we visited a pretty touristy restaurant that target Korean tourist. Be very careful at what you order especially the prawns. Their price can be very different when you order bigger size seafood.
Below are the rest of the photos taken on the next morning. We decided to hangout around the garden right outside our room. You will able to spot lizards coming out for sunbathing and it was fun for me to chase them hhahaha. Enjoy the photos and I hope you've got a better idea of this beautiful resort in Kota Kinabalu
