【Hippie Cafe】 - The Hidden Gem @ Jinjang Utara

Other than the beautiful FRIM Kepong, I seldom go there. But there's this nice hipster cafe hidden in Kepong township that I would like to share with you, it's called the "Hippie Cafe". It was well hidden on top of the mini Tesco Express Jinjang Utara.  Initially I didn't see the cafe because the entrance was at the side of Tesco Express.

However, the moment I went upstair, it shows a different view. There are wall-arts all around the corner and what attracted me are the lighting and wheels-shape clocks installed at the interior. Since I was hungry, I went to the counter and ordered their Curry Spaghetti and a green tea. 

There was only me in the cafe with a few youngsters at the kitchen.  It took them a while to prepare my meal but I understand why when I saw my Curry Spaghetti. It looks very neat and my usual photography habit tell me to photograph it.

Later on, I took my time to photograph this cafe because they have this nice ambient light all around the cafe. Saw some instagrammable spots too and here's how the cafe looks like.

So what do you think bout Hippie Cafe's interior? Are they suitable for instagram OOTD? Little did I know that the cafe owner was there too. Her name is Lotus. She saw me keep taking photos and came to talk with me. Then I show her my photos and shared with her what I do for a living. If you guys haven't know, I always do my best to take nice photos and and hopefully there's someone that appreciate it. I am glad they did =)

That's when we got an idea to work together. Hippie Cafe is actually still very new and they don't have a photo menu yet. It was hard for me to place my order as I have no idea how my food gonna looks like. After some chatting, I found that they do have many amazing spread of good looking desserts AND signature drinks. Now let me show you what are the "hidden gems" in Hippie Cafe:

Hippie Cafe Super Berries Waffle

Hippie Cafe Absolute Chocolate Waffle

Hippie Cafe have two main waffles, the Absolute Chocolate Waffle and Super Berries Waffle. My personal favourite would be their chocolate because it tasted moderate sweet and the texture of their waffle is different! Got that Roti Canai feel haha. As for the berries, if they use the Korean Sweet Strawberries then I am gonna love it more.

Hippie Cafe Toasted Bread Bowl

Hippie Cafe Toasted Bread Bowl is the bun that contain hot cheese mixed with the colorful red, green and yellow pepper. So eat that with caution because it can get pretty hot =) Calming food for a cold weather.

Hippie Cafe Oven Baked Salmon

Hippie Cafe Oven Baked Salmon - This dish is not available on the menu yet but for Salmon lovers who are going to Hippie Cafe for food in near future, you may order this one.

Hippie Cafe Jinjang Utara Chicken Popcorn with Dips by LOOTS

If you prefer to have just finger food and pair with drinks (especially beers), you can order their Chicken Popcorn with Dips by LOOTS. I was talking bout beer right? Yesh, Hippie Cafe serve you all kinds of artisan beers and you may check out some of the available beers below. Each beer is served with their own unique glass. The most attractive one would be Little Creature Pale Ale that served with a Skull Shape Chilled Glass!! Now that explain the skull graffiti on the wall.

For beer lovers, you can have all these artisan drinks with unique chilled glasses. They have Little Creature Pale Ale, Hoegarden Rosée, Stella Artois, Warsteiner all served with different chilled glasses.

Hippie Head (with light alcohol) - Hippie Cafe Jinjang Utara

Talking about food presentation, I really like how they present 【Hippie Head】. It is quite fun to play with this drink as the moment you pour in Coke the drink will start emitting bubbles and eventually forming the 'brain'. The taste will be unique with a hint of alcohol in it.

Below here are two more desserts that worth a mention: Hippie Cafe's Affogato with Anzac Coconut Cookies Kapiti Ice Cream and Affogato with Matcha Affogato with Fig and Honey Kapiti Ice Cream

This two affogatos are very visually attractive and tasty because of the Kapiti Ice Cream added on top of it. Each of them have different syrup that you can pour into your drink (matcha/hot chocolate). After pouring in, you can play with your drink, poke it and enjoy the color mixture. I'm quite satisfied playing with the visuals. Oh ya before I forget, you can add Kapiti Ice-cream as topping for your waffles too.

Currently Hippie Cafe have some of the most interesting flavour of Kapiti Ice-cream. Feel free to ask the counter for available flavours kay? My favourite is Anzac Coconut Cookie flavor.

Other than above mentioned drinks, there are actually many more drinks that I think you gotta experience that yourself. I will just show you how it looks like before, and you figure out the aftermath =) Some of them has a mini cup with secret ingredients to do magic once you pour it in. Just go and try them out! (Remember to use Boomerang to capture that)

Hippie Cafe has this wide glass panel so you may want to sit here to take some photo. Nice ambient light for food photography too

Hippie Cafe doesn't look outstanding during day time but it transform into something totally different at night. All the lights are up and you can have a different feel with the new ambiance. Nice music is playing at the background and it kinda fit my Spotify Cafe Playlist. Choose your favourite seats from sofa to long tables.

The couple founders of Hippie Cafe in Jinjang Utara - Kelferd and Lotus 

Hippie Cafe operate hour is from 1pm to 10pm (weekdays) and 1pm to 12am (Friday, Saturday) and rest on Monday. Have a slice of the cake and let me know if they taste good kay?
