Do you know what people say about the sea? The sea is dangerous but beautiful at the same time with all the sea creatures that you can only see when you do scuba diving or underwater sport. What people didn't say before is,
the sea does not discriminate. Why say so? Because when disabled friends go under the sea together, we are all the same, not only we can't walk or stand, we all use sign language to communicate to each other. Today I would like to share a video of what
OurBetterWorld.org and
Society of PSP (People Support People) Malaysia did to make their dream comes true - They Can't Walk But They Can Dive.

62 volunteers helped 34 persons with disabilities to dive in the sea |
One of the main challenge for this is the transportation and logistic on how to assist people with disabilities from land to the boat/plane, to an island and then to the sea. Many never get this chance because it's not physically accessible, and it goes against a general perception that persons with disabilities shouldn't be undertaking such pursuits.
Thankfully where there's a will, there's a solution, with helps from the divers and generous support by the volunteers, the team has manage to help 34 persons with disabilities and made their wish came true at Pulau Redang with the assistants from 62 volunteers.

All the volunteers are special people because they are doing these for special people |

You can see their joy the moment they manage to dive underwater and enjoying the great view |
I feel touched when you see the volunteer team manage to help them achieve their dream that was seem impossible to achieve at the beginning. The facial expression when and after the dive is definitely priceless.
Just imagine you get to help your special friend feed the fishes under water and see them swimming around you. That's one of the great thing that people can do =)

That proud moment for both the volunteer and people with disabilities when they able to enjoy the underwater together |

If you are interested to join this Marine Discovery Dive and help people at the same join, join them! |
The lesson that we can learn from this video is that disability is not about someone's physical limitations, it's about the environment. If we work together to make things possible and accessible, persons with disabilities have an equal chance of succeeding in everything that able-bodied people do.
The
Marine Discovery Dive 2016 is open to volunteers (those who dive and those who don't) and persons with disabilities from around the world. Training is provided. Find out more about the story and how you can help at:
