12 Things To Do In Udo Island, Jeju-do
Udo ( also called U-island), a small island located at the eastern coast of Jeju Island. Udo Island was named because it resembles a lying cow. It boasts fertile soil, abundant schools of fish, and scenic sights; local heritages (female divers, stone walls, and stone tombs) as well as natural attractions abound on the island, making it a miniature of Jeju Island. The island is also full of amenities and tourism outlets: fishing, bike trails, sand massages, submarine tours and cruises.
Seobin Baeksa (a white beach designated Natural Monument No. 438) has appeared regularly in films and TV commercials thanks to its breathtaking white sand and emerald sea. The sea around the beach showcases different colors depending on the water level. This makes Seobin Baeksa one of the most popular tourist attractions in Jeju-do, along with Hallasan Mountain. Standing on Udobong Peak (132.5m), the highest spot on the island, is a lighthouse surrounded by a spacious park. The peak offers outstanding overlooks of the island at a glance.
Below are things to do in Udo Island and you will definitely love this place if you love nature scenery including the beach and sea!

7.Take a selfie/group photo at the Beacon Mound (Mang-roo)
Bong-soo meaning 'beacon(bong)' and 'smoke(soo)' is the military communication facility which was used to convey urgent messages during Joseon Dynasty. The use of Bongsoo for military purpose is believed to have started during Goryeo dynasty.
Around this area they are mainly flat land with strong winds. Spotted some people setting camp here. Perhaps it is suitable for camping and to enjoy starry night at mid-night? That would be fun =)

9. Eat fresh sashimi of Udo Island
My friends ordered some raw seafood for sashimi tasting. The seaweed was really fresh and some of the sashimi were really crunchy and hard like a stone haha! Maybe we didn't know the right way to enjoy it. Best to have a Korean tour guide with you so he can give you some tips on food to order.
One thing for sure, the sashimi are 200% fresh from the sea of Udo Island.

10. Spend your time near the beach, swim when weather is hot
There are many beaches in Udo Island. To name a few, there are Udo Sanho Beach, Hagosudong Beach and Geommeolle Beach. You can enjoy the sea water, explore the sea creatures hiding behind the black rocks. Best place for kids to explore the nature too.
Udo Sanho Beach, all referred to as Seobinbaeksa Beach, is a white sand beach. The ocean here varies in colors from bright emerald to deep sapphire according to its depth. The view is so unique, it cannot be compared to the Mediterranean Sea, South Pacific Sea, or any other ocean view.
Hagosudong Beach, often referred to as 'the Saipan of Korea' with its sandy beach and spectacular formation of rocks and cliffs, is located on Udo Island off the coast of Jeju-do. Although all beaches surrounding Jeju-do are beautiful, Hagosudong is more exotic and distinctive in nature. With a fairly shallow sea level and soft sand, visitors of all ages can enjoy relaxing and walking along the shore while gazing out at the pristine ocean vistas.
Geommeolle Beach is a very small beach, reaching only about 100m in total length, with a name literally translating to "black sand" in Jeju dialects. The nearly all-grey beach will look strange at first, but soon visitors eyes will adjust and they will begin to pick out where the cliff and rocks end and the sandy shore begins, all in various shades of grey.

11. Must eat the 'Hallasan Fried Rice'
Ever heard of ‘Hallasan fried rice’? This fried rice comes in Hallasan Mountain figure and the egg scramble with cheese flakes surrounding the fried rice shows Jeju Island. The food is indeed tasty and the chef will tell you interesting story of the island while cooking the fried rice with full passion. (watch my Jeju Island video) I enjoyed this lunch very much!!
We ordered the fried rice and the meal started with grilled seafood, the chef will slowly create the Hallasan Mountain with interesting explanation and visual effect. Trust me, the fried rice tasted really really good!! Do visit the restaurant earlier (around 10-11am) so you can easily grab a seat instead of need to queuing up for your turn.
