5 Ways to Explore FRIM in a Day
5 Ways to Explore FRIM in a Day |
I spent my childhood in an estate so naturally I love being in the great outdoors. The rich variety of flora and fauna in the jungle never ceases to amaze. So when I had the chance to drive the Honda Civic 2.0 over the weekend, I decided to make a trip to the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong for a little nature excursion.

The first thing I did before I started my road trip to FRIM was to pair my Note 5 Spotify playlist via Bluetooth to the vehicle. The 7-Inch Display Audio has a variety of functions including volume and speaker control! I also love how everything was made easier within the driver’s reach.
It was a smooth ride all the way to FRIM and once there, I took a relaxing drive around FRIM. Did you know that even if you are not a big fan of trekking, you can still explore the vast beauty of FRIM inside your car? The intuitive controls within the reach of my fingertips made it very easy to enjoy the natural surroundings without getting distracted from driving.
I also had the ECON Button on throughout my driving trip, which helped a lot to minimise fuel consumption. I noticed that it shifts into high gears quickly and smoothly, an indication that the fuel saving mode is working.
After the fun nature drive, it was time to take some photos and explore FRIM on foot. Here are some things I did to make the most out of my day at FRIM – perhaps you can try them out, too!
1. Do the Canopy Walkway
The Canopy Walkways spans 150 metres and is suspended between trees. Be sure to get your tickets from the FRIM One Stop Centre located at Building Block D6 first.
2. Have lunch at the waterfall
Upon exiting the Canopy Walkway, you will need to walk downhill before reaching a mini waterfall. It is a great place to relax and have a picnic.

3. Hire a nature guide
For just RM120 per group, the guide will bring you around the various trails and learn more about its rich flora and fauna.
4. Take advantage of the photography hotspots
Listen to the chirping birds and take a slow walk to photograph the many unique plants encountered along the way.
5. Enjoy the sunset at Kepong Botanic Garden.
I got back inside the Civic and found the location to this place using Google Maps. There is a popular jogging trail here but catching the sunset by the serene lake could be a more perfect way to end your day.
