In mid of August, I was invited by Royal Selangor for the preview of their STAR WARS Pewter Collection where some of the designs are in limited edition. Royal Selangor has teamed up with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia to launch a collection that commemorates STAR WARS, one of the most successful movie franchises of all time and worldwide popular culture phenomenon.
Although I am not exactly a huge fans of Star Wars, I do find these special edition pewter collection deserved some sharing. Royal Selangor Star Wars collection's lineup consists of 8-inch figurines,mugs, tumblers, USB flash drives and cufflinks. Let's have a look on the collection shall we??

| STAR WARS x ROYAL SELANGOR Limited Edition Pewter Collection |
Royal Selangor Star Wars collection’s lineup consists of Limited Edition 8-inch figurines of Darth Vader, Han Solo and Princess Leia. Complementing them are smaller 4-inch figurines of Yoda, the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. Accompanying the figurines is a diorama which captures the rancor monster in his pit rearing to attack Luke Skywalker - a classic scene from Return of the Jedi.
Other collectibles in this Star Wars collection include a pair of Stormtrooper and Boba Fett tumblers, Darth Vader and C-3PO mugs, Millennium Falcon and snowspeeder shaped USB flash drives, a Death Star trinket box and cufflinks.
The designers and sculptors at Royal Selangor ensured accuracy in the features and accessories of each figurine by referencing on-set photos, film screenshots and Lucasfilm approved reproduction art.

Luke vs Rancor Diorama
Limited to 500 pieces.
Luke’s harrowing encounter with the Rancor is reproduced in an impressively proportioned diorama. The claustrophobia, the impending close quarters combat, and the sense of inescapability are effectively simulated. All that is missing is the creature’s drooling.

Every detail has been faithfully reproduced, down to the dents and scratches to the bounty hunter’s armour. Intricate details inherent in the character’s appearance required casting the figurine in eight separate pieces.
Stormtrooper
Great care was taken to capture the look of the classic Stormtrooper. Multiple iterations resulted in the precise lines of the body armour, but this pales in comparison to the exacting revisions required to the helmet and weapon.

A portrayal of the sprightlier Master Yoda, from the time of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, subtle staining accentuates his already wizened features and the rough texture of his robes.

Darth Vader
Limited to 5,000 pieces.With only a static, albeit iconic mask for a face, capturing its expression of menace took special care. Attention was also paid to often overlooked details, such as the chest panel’s instrumentation and the suit’s texture. In order to avoid distortion as the metal cools, the head, chest and cloak are cast as one piece, separate from the torso and lower body.

Princess Leia
Limited to 5,000 pieces.
Leia’s appearance as a captive of Jabba the Hutt is reproduced to the last detail. The braiding of the hair, the elaborate costume, the languid pose and the facial likeness are a triumph of observation and sculpting.

Han Solo
Limited to 5,000 pieces.
The swashbuckler’s dynamic pose, shown about to fire at an enemy, may be an original interpretation, but every detail of his outfit and weapon is painstakingly reproduced, including his hairstyle.

My verdict on Star Wars x Royal Selangor CollectionMy favourite pewter from the Star Wars collection is non other than the Trinket Box, Death Star as it can be open and to keep tiny stuff in it. My second favourite is the thumbdrives because it is cool and useful at the same time haha. I personally think that if Princess Leia has a more lively face expression I would have fall for it tremendously.
As a collector of Star Wars series merchandise, I highly recommend you guys to get the limited edition 8" figurine (limited to 5,000 units) and Luke vs Rancor Diorama (limited to 500 units only).
I hope you guys like my sharing of these carefully crafted pewter collection (and blogpost) and hopefully Star Wars fans all around the world would find this a good coverage of the Star Wars Collection Preview. Fine art does really worth a share!!
