It has been a while since I've shoot an unboxing video. The last video was to unbox a Blackberry smartphone... (woot sounds really long ago). Anyway today I would like to share my quick video unboxing the Smart Camera NX1, 16-50 mm Premium S Lens, Vertical Grip & Battery Kit. I was busy lately hence sorry for the delay.
Currently still trying to get use to the new platform and buttons of Samsung NX1 as it is kinda different from my DSLR. The reason why NX1 could be a good camera for you is when you haven't invest in any camera system and wanted to have a good start in the DSLR like mirrorless smart camera.
I will elaborate more after the video. Now please watch the unboxing video to see what are the things hidden inside that big box. Oh yeah, I got myself a Samsung Flash gun to pair it with NX1 too.

Samsung NX1 with 16-50/2-2.8 Premium S kit lens
If compare Samsung NX1 to the usual DSLR, it does come lighter in weight while maintaining the size (consider big if compared to a mirrorless camera). However the Samsung Lens 16-50/2-2.8 S kit lens has a big pros which is the f2.0 aperture for good bokeh and low-light photography. Event at maximum zoom you can have constant f2.8 aperture hence it still give you good low light photos at lower ISO just like other f2.8 lens.
Dedicated ISO, Autofocus, White Balance and Framing button on top left
Instead of having the functions crumple at one single button, Samsung NX1 has more dedicated buttons on top left where you can adjust the ISO, WB, Autofocus, Framing and number of shots easily. Samsung NX1 can capture high-reso 15 frames/second and I kinda like it when it able to capture some funny face of my rabbit at home.
Super AMOLED with Touch Screen Display on Samsung NX1
The images that you see on the screen of NX1 is pretty bright and saturated since it is using the Super AMOLED Display. My current DSLR do have LiveView but it lack of the TouchScreen and AutoFocus function. Hence I kinda like Samsung NX1 Touch Screen where you can customize the focus point to a very tiny square box yet focusing correctly.
What else is good bout touch screen?? You can capture photos easily by just touching the screen. I've been using it well for video recording too. Oh yesh talking about the video feature in NX1, I really like the 120fps Slow Motion Video Recording as I can slow down action to beautiful arts at high resolution. I've tested it during low light and it still functioning quite well =)
Samsung 16-50mm f/2-f/2.8 Premium S kit lens
As stated earlier, the Samsung 16-50mm Premium S Lens works really well with Samsung NX1. If you have the Samsung 50-150mm Premium S Telephoto Zoom Lens tooyou can cover pretty much most of the zoom range of your photography. Since I am a #TCFishEye lens lover, I am looking forward for Samsung to come out with a 8-16mm Premium S Lens too. With that I already cover all my zoom range haha.
If you love bokeh shots, just go and grab some 45mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.4 prime lens that give you good bokeh. I currently have the 45mm that shoot 2D/3D images, which working well with my Samsung NX30 and NX1 =)
Every camera must have own dedicated flash gun -Samsung GN58 SEF580A Flash
Samsung GN58 SEF580A Flash Gun is best suit with Samsung NX1. It seems like a basic unit with normal internal focusing light. Although it lacks of scroll button for easy setting changes, it function quite well in bounced light and TTL mode. You may also sync your Samsung NX1 with your available flashgun using Wireless Trigger device. I do hope that in future Samsung gonna come up with a better flashgun with additional scroll button and diffuser slot.
Battery Grip for Samsung NX1
In Smart Camera NX1, 16-50 mm Premium S Lens, Vertical Grip & Battery Kit, of course you have the battery grip that can slot in additional battery and give you more stability in capturing portrait photos. I personally prefer switching my battery manually and keep my camera small in size. Hence I haven't really use my Samsung NX1 with the battery grip.
You can slot in additional battery into the battery grip for Samsung NX1
Well on a side note, you will somehow look more professional with the battery grip attached to your Samsung NX1. I used to think of people with huge camera gear are definitely professional photographers, but now time has change and even 7 years old kid can have the whole series of DSLR with professional lens. Therefore to know if the photographer is really professional, don't just check out his gear but his photos and portfolios.
I have met a lot more professional photographer who are using mirrorless camera now. And yes they can take awesome photos!!

This is how big your Samusng NX1 gonna looks like if you attach the battery grip together. With the additional hood to protect the lens, your NX 1 can look huge and gorgeous at the same time. For sure, people gonna see your camera when you carry it around.
