Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant @ Genting Theme park Hotel [Review]
[This blogpost is a continuation of my Chinese Cuisine trip to Genting Highland]
After we had our breakfast at Hainan Express, we then wander around Genting and went to the park where you can see Chin Swee Temple.
Amazing morning scenery from Theme Park Hotel |
If you like cool weather and fresh air together with good scenery view, you must not miss out this park that is just located beside Genting Theme Park Hotel. The air here was really refreshing and surely make you feel relaxed. After that, I went to walk around other places in Genting and snapped some photos. Will share this in another blogpost instead.

Fresh seafood being added to the two-tiered L-shape aquarium here |
Since we arrived Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant quite early, we can see them refill the aquariums with fresh seafood. You'll able to see live seafood such as red tilapia, sea bass, garoupa, Boston Lobsters, Script clams and many more!

Living lobsters, snails and crabs! |

Steamed Oysters with Minced Garlic 蒜耳蒸澳洲生蚝 |
if you like oysters but scared of the fishy smell, no worries as the generous layer of minced garlic will definitely replace the smell. Therefore, I decided to ate some of the garlic first then only eat the oyster to get the freshest taste of it. This is a Chinese style fresh oysters. I still prefer the one with just lemon and tobacco sauces added on it.
Plain Poached Grass Prawn @ 百灼草虾 |
If you like fresh prawns that being served at the most simplest way, order this dish. The poached prawns taste nicest when you eat it at the freshest state. You can mix with the ginger-soya-sauces provided. Just beware of the spilling juice when you try to separate the prawns' head from the body.
Steamed Sea Garoupa with Soya Sauce 海斑清蒸 |
I always like to eat fish and as simple as cook with soya sauce. How I wish this whole fish was mine so I could just enjoy it slowly all by myself hahaha. The selling point of this restaurant is all seafood are served at the freshest state. You won't able to taste the fishy smell. Just make sure you picked a healthy fish from the aquarium.
Boston Lobster with Superior Stock 波士顿龙虾上汤炬 |
Boston lobster tasted normal in this dish. I wonder if it was because of how the lobster being chopped and served or the soup taste different. Maybe I still prefer their signature dish - Australian Lobster Baked with Cheese filled with melting Cheese. I was happy I can get the whole pincer's meat out from the shell. #successkid
Geoduck - A clam with long body and looks like... You know la haha |
Geoduck Shashimi 象拔蚌刺身 |
This was my first time having the huge clam meat - Geoduck. I only saw it before in the TV on how people prepared it for dishes. The cook in Happy Valley Restaurant definitely know how to process and slice Geoduck's meat to thin layers as shashimi. As you can see there are three different parts and if you can't stand fishy smell, you can eat it after put a few slices into a boil of herbal soup. I kinda regret when I challenged myself to eat the internal part (the meat in the clam shell) without cooking it. The smell? You won't forget that strong internal organ smell....BUT! The siphon part of Geoduck tasted really nice! Thanks to its savory flavor and crunchy texture.
Wasabi and soya sauce to cover the smell of fresh Geoduck |

Happy Valley restaurant cook that explain to us the part of the Geoduck we ate. |
All of us was curious on how they prepare the Geoduck sashimi. Thanks to the cook who explained to us about it. I would like to thank him for prepare all the dishes too.
Chili Crab served with Deep-fried Mantou 星洲辣子蟹/馒头 |
You must get your hand dirty if you want to learn the correct way to eat crab. Don't expect yourself to eat crabs with fork and spoon ( or even chopstick) as that's more fun when you are using your hands. You won't waste the crab meat hidden inside the shell too. No worries, a clamp will be given to crack the hard shell. This is a typical chili crab dish that you should try, I like the Mantou that's fully dipped with the crab sauce. Yummy!
Stir-fried Siput Cangrad with Dried Shrimp & Chili Padi 虾米辣椒仔炒大头蚌 |
A dishes that tasted normal to me, maybe the ingredients that was cooked together looks almost the same size with the meat. Hope they can improve this dishes.
Four Seasons Vegetables 四大天皇 |
After so much seafood you must order a plate of vegetables too, if you like Petai, order this one. It was a mixture of four different vege that tasted different but delicious to eat.
Happy faces after the big meal @ Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant |
Fruits and camwhore moments lol
