Restoran Genting Palace @ 2nd Floor, Maxims Genting Hotel
After our succulent lunch at Ming Ren Restaurant, we then check in to our room at Theme Park Hotel to have a short-rest. Didn't do much thing except going around Genting Highlands to check out the crowd. Time passed really fast and we were at Restoran Genting Palace for dinner already! Check out all the dishes below that will cost you around RM2,500. Thank you Genting for the treat!

Genting Palace is the place to head to for authentic Cantonese cuisines. Located at maxims Genting, the restaurant has long been a favourite of visitors to Genting Highlands Resort for its wide selection of dishes, comfortable dining area and friendly service. Apart from the tantalizing selection of dishes that are available in the menu, the restaurant also offers Dim Sum and Monthly Specialties. This restaurant is an ideal venue for dinner gathering with family and friends and corporate functions.

You should try Genting palace's signature dishes which is the Crispy Golden Phoenix Prawn and Braised Homemade Sprout Spinach Bean Curd with Shimeji Mushrooms in Oysters Flavour.

The interior of Genting Plalace together with 10 private dining rooms
Two bronze lion statues welcome customers as they walk into the restaurant. The main dining hall projects the grandeur of a palatial setting, complemented by modern Chinese interior design. With a seating capacity for 700 people and 10 private dining rooms, the restaurant is the ideal venue for social or business gatherings.

To have your private time with your family/friends, you can have your breakfast/lunch/dinner at one of the private room. We were at "云 @ Yun" room. A table can serve up to 10-12 guests.

野生菌炖鹌鹑球
Double-Boiled Minced Quail Ball With Assorted Fungus
Besides the usual soup that has been served to the customer, the chef has squeezed his brain juice to invent a different kind of soup that is almost the same value with shark-fin soup. The precious ingredients in this bowl of soup are various kind of assorted fungus that were slowly added one by one to the soup, and boiled for 6 hours. As you can see from the above, there were at least three different kind/color of fungus included.

I usually eat Quail's egg when having steamboat but this was my first time being serve a huge Quail ball in a bowl of soup. The meatball was bouncy but easy to bite. A nutritious soup to have!

Executive Chinese Chef of Genting Palace Maxims Genting
That night, Chef Jacky Yap was there to have dinner together with us. He answered our questions about the dishes and also shared his personal life-experience too. A talented chef and funny person that I'm glad to know.

Now you see it now you don't!
*I like seafood*
Well, Chef Jacky Yap somehow thought us how to use the fork and knife to pick out the meat and I think I did it quite well without ruining the shell *self-praising*. I wish I could just have another half of the cheesy lobster to satisfy my hunger for delicious seafood.

Steamed Dragon Tiger Grouper with Preserved Vegetable Condiment
I like to eat fish [and not just a small piece]
*who tell you to go fine-dining? The plate is always bigger than your food portion*
The steamed fish tasted soft and the salty black color vegetables condiment were meant to consume together with the Shanghai "La Mian". This was to balance the taste or else you would have super-salty-tongue-experience.
*I don't mind to have more fish!*

黄焖黑菌烩鲍鱼冬瓜普
Simmer Abalone & Winter Melon with Black Truffle & Yellow Broth
My first time to try black truffle was during my fine dining at The Olive and the dish named Portobello Carpaccio. It was a delicious appetizer. However, this was my first time trying out abalone together with black truffle too. There were many kind of abalones that you can order at Genting Palace. The winter melon below it was to balance the taste between the abalone and the concentrated broth.

蜜椒香脆鸡柳
Crispy Chicken Fillet with Special Sauce
This is a really delicious 'finger food' that I would eat no matter how full I am. The spiciness was at the correct level that match my favourite taste and I don't mind to have more of this! If only this chicken fillet is available at any fast food store...*dreaming*

云华宫特色美点
Genting Palace Special Dessert

Sweet tooth will surely love the Creamy-soft-puff-with-mango-fills. Sour taste of the strawberry will be balanced by the sweet filing; The other dessert was actually a crunchy-biscuit-like with Pandan flavor filing. One hard one soft, they were meant to create a huge contrast. You're advised to consume the hard piece first so that you would feel the mango puff is extremely soft and delicious of course ;p

After dinner, some of us went to The Bakery to enjoy the cold weather outside while having a sip on our hot drinks. Beautiful looking desserts are available here! The Bakery is just located opposite the Coffee Terrace.

Hot Double Chocolate
Call me noob because at first I didn't know how to drink it. At first I thought the chocolate were meant to be bit after you took a sip of hot milk *LOL* As you can see, you just need to place all the chocolate sticks into the milk and let it melt. Tada! Hot double chocolate!

After that everyone went back to their room, some of them went to watch football as I just enjoy myself inside the room after I met up with my mom. Yesh, coincidentally she was there in Genting too! Above picture is the layout of Theme Park Hotel at level 9. It was renovated and I hope they will include a hairdryer to the room as I can't sleep with wet hair.

All right, stay tune for my day 2 in Genting as we have luxurios breakfast at Hainan Express and super happy to have fresh seafood at Happy Valley Seafood Restaurant!
